    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cutting process and an optical fiber cutting tool which can cut an optical fiber so as to have a good cutting plane without requiring a complicated operation. SOLUTION: A fiber holder 15 is disposed in a near center in the groove 14 of a blade holder 13, and is inserted into a fiber holding hole H located between double edges 11 and 12 to be held. Then, the fiber holder 15 is advanced to the first blade 11 side by the rotation operation of a knob part 17, and an optical fiber F is cut off with the first blade 11. At this moment, when an unwanted portion FA is long to some extent, an optical fiber F may cause a rupture phenomenon because there is no recess margin in an axial direction. However, when the knob part 17 is turned in the opposite direction to advance the fiber holder 15 to the second blade 12 side after this, a left optical fiber F is also advanced to the second blade 12 side, and the edge of a blade of the second blade 12 is advanced to the cutting end of the optical fiber F. Because the thin piece part FB is thin in this stage, the second blade 12 is advanced while deforming a thin piece part FB so as to be bent backward. Thereby the thin piece part FB is chipped off without causing a rupture phenomenon to the last, and the cutting plane is smoothed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visitor/leaver number managing device for counting the number of visitors/leavers with high precision even when any temporary communication error is generated between a detecting unit which detects visitors/leavers and a managing unit which manages the number of visitors/leavers. SOLUTION: A detecting unit 10 counts the cumulative number of visitors/ leavers since start, and periodically outputs the number of visitors/leavers as detection data Xm and Ym by radio.     • PURPOSE:To prevent the adverse effect due to regularly reflected light from an object to be detected and to enhance detection capacity, by projecting light from a light projecting element through a polarizing filter and receiving detected light by a light receiving element through the polarizing filter. CONSTITUTION:Pulse modulated light 4 is projected from the light projecting element 2 in a case 1 through a vertical polarizing filter 3 and the detected light 4' reflected by a regression mirror 6 is received by a light receiving element 5 through a transverse polarizing filter 7. Because the regrassion mirror 6 has such a characteristic that incident light is reflected therein three times, reflected light comes to one polarized by 90 deg.. When an object 16 to be detected is present in a detection region, the object 16 to be detected has a regularly reflective surface and, therefore, the reflected light thereof has the same phase as the modulated light 4 and is blocked by the polarizing filter 7 and no light is made incident to the light receiving element 5. By this method, erroneous detection due to regularly reflected light can be prevented and detection capacity can be enhanced.
