When a relationship between a plurality of temperature detection values detected by the combustion chamber temperature detection means 25a, 25b, respectively is deviated from a set appropriate relationship, an abnormality detection means C determines that the burner B has a combustion abnormality.

And, respective casings B1, B2, and B3 are connected by screws, and the position of the protection cover 29 is positioned by its abutting to the first casing B1 and third casing B3.

    • PURPOSE:To safely feed water during the feed of hot water through simple operation, by a method wherein the polarity of a power fed from a constant power source to a solenoid through a circuit for holding an initial opening valve is inverted. CONSTITUTION:In an instantaneous water boiler, a polarity inverting circuit 19A to feed a feed power from a built-in battery 15, being a constant power source, to a first solenoid 12A by inverting a polarity is situated in a circuit 16 for holding an initial opening valve. When, with the polarity inverting circuit 19A operated, the polarity of a feed power from a built-in battery 15 is inverted and the feed power is fed to the first solenoid 12A, the magnetic force of the first solenoid 12A excited by means of the feed power is offset with that of a second solenoid 12B excited by the thermoelectromotive force of a thermocouple 17. Since the self-closing energizing force of a fuel cutoff valve 10 is increased over a magnetic force for holding an opening valve being exerted against the self-closing energizing force, the cutoff valve 10 is closed. Thus, the feed of fuel to a burner 2 is shut off to stop combustion, and water prevented from being heated is fed through a hot water feed passage 5 from a heat exchanger 3.

When water is required, the power supplied to the solenoid 12B is reduced by opening the switch 19, even if the thermoelectromotive force of the thermocouple 17 is sufficient, the closing operation of a fuel cutoff valve 10 is carried out just as in the occurring time of abnormal condition. The switch 19 is attached on the moving end of an operation device 21 for controlling hot water temp. which can be slided freely along a rail 20.
