    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable having excellent branching workability, and a method for branching the optical fiber cable.SOLUTION: An optical fiber cable 1 comprises a sheath 3, inclusions 5, coated optical fibers 7, tension members 9, protective barriers 13, a supporting wire 15, and the like. The inclusions 5 require a certain level of rigidity to surely transmit force to the whole of the coated optical fibers 7 from both sides via the inclusions 5 during manufacturing. For example, if the inclusions 5 are easily deformed to be squashed by pushing pressure of the sheath 3, they become cushion layers, and force applied from both sides of the coated optical fibers 7 decreases. Thus, irregularities may be caused in the alignment of the coated optical fibers 7. Therefore, repulsive force is preferably 48 N/100 mm or more when 90% of an outer diameter is changed with respect to compressive force in a direction vertical to longer directions of the inclusions 5.

A marking 4 is provide on at least part of an outer face of the projection parts 5. The marking 4 is formed like a continuous line in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber cable 1, in a color different from a resin forming the projection parts 5 and the coating part 3.
