      SOLUTION: When the optical disk with surface wobbling is reproduced, the fact is utilized that the amount of jitters in a reproduced signal from an optical pickup 3 fluctuates synchronizing with the period of surface wobbling. When the fluctuation range of the amount of jitters exceeds a threshold defined in advance, by providing a system controller 14 which determines that the optical disk 1 with surface wobbling is reproduced, and controls a servo system to increase the gain of the servo system for the optical pickup 3, the follow-up property of the optical pickup 3 to the optical disk 1 with surface wobbling and reproducing performance are enhanced. Thus, reproducing performance can be enhanced even when the optical disk with surface wobbling is reproduced.
