    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable in which coated optical fibers can be taken out from the cable without causing therein loss fluctuation or increase in loss due to bend and in which damage to the coated optical fibers caused by cicadas can be prevented, and also to provide a branching method of the optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cables 10, 10a are structured such that, on both sides of coated optical fibers 11, a tension member 12 is arranged in parallel which has a durability against tension and compression, with the entirety covered altogether with a jacket 13. On both sides of the coated optical fibers 11 and on the sides with no tension members 12 arranged, there are disposed peeling tapes 16 of synthetic resin in the manner having no adhesive integration with the cable jacket 13, having a width wider than the width D of the array of the coated optical fibers 11, and coming in contact with the coated optical fibers 11. Further, on the side of the jacket where the peeling tapes 16 are arranged, a pair of notches may be provided, with a space apart that is inside the width W of the peeling tapes 16 and outside the width D of the array of the coated optical fibers 11.
