    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holographic recording medium with which high sensitivity recording can be performed by using a short-wavelength laser beam. SOLUTION: A holographic recording composition contains a compound represented by general formula (I). The holographic recording medium has a recording layer formed from the holographic recording composition. In general formula (I), R 1 represents a hydrogen atom, an acyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group or an aryloxycarbonyl group; R 2 represents a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkyloxy group, an aryloxy group, an acyloxy group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group, an amino group or a heterocyclic group; A represents an oxygen atom or a 5-7 membered heterocycle containing sulfur atom; n is an integer of 0-4; and when n is ≥2, a plurality of R 2 may be linked to form a ring.
