      SOLUTION: The housing 10 for camera is formed by extruding a metal material into a hollow shape. The thickness of the grip section 12 is extruded so as to be greater than that of the other part. Since the housing 10 is formed by extruding the metal material into the hollow shape, no joint is required for the housing 10 (that is, seamless design). Therefore, a smooth and integrated excellent appearance can be obtained. Also, the strength is prevented from being reduced unlike a conventional apparatus which has a seam between its front and rear cabinets. The thickness of the grip section 12 may be unevenly increased to locate the gravity center G near the grip section 12 or to increase the rigidity of the grip section in the direction in which the grip section is held.
