The pressure member 80 has a contact forming part 82A bringing the recording medium P into contact with the rotating body 64 and a pressure part 82B pressurizing the endless belt 66 toward the rotating body 64 on the downstream side from the contact forming part 82A in a rotational direction. The contact forming part 82A is located on the upstream side in the rotational direction from the contact point T in the rotating body 64 of a common tangent passing through the side where the pressure member 80 is arranged of the rotating body 64 out of the common tangent of the rotating body 64 and the conveyance roll 52 as seen from side. The pressure part 82B is located on the downstream side from the contact point T in the rotational direction.

The pressure pad 19 is in direct contact with an inner periphery of the fixing belt 18 without using a rubbing member therebetween. No rubbing member is required, thereby simplifying structure, assembling, and manufacturing of the fixing apparatus 16. The number of components is reduced, thereby reducing cost for the fixing apparatus 16. The shape of the pressure pad 19 is reflected as a shape of a fixing nip part N, thereby improving fixability, such as crease resistance. The pressure pad 19 can be designed more easily than when the pressure pad 19 is designed to show fixability in consideration of the presence of the rubbing member.
