    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image evaluation device which is capable of evaluating visual influences caused by moire by improving accuracy in comparison with the case where the present configuration is not included.SOLUTION: A moire frequency detection section 1 detects a frequency in the case where moire occurs, from an angle and a frequency of a screen to be used for forming an image subjected to evaluation. A frequency conversion section 2 performs frequency conversion on luminosity of the image subjected to evaluation and acquires one-dimensional frequency distribution and in accordance with visual characteristics, a visual characteristic correction section 3 corrects a differential between the one-dimensional frequency distribution and frequency distribution of an image of a primary color corresponding to average luminosity of the image subjected to evaluation. An evaluation section 4 calculates an evaluation value by extracting a moire component of the frequency detected by the moire frequency detection section 1 from the corrected frequency distribution. Further, an evaluation value of a screen component is calculated, and an evaluation value relating to a structural sense may also be calculated together with the evaluation value of the moire component.

The fill pattern contains a nucleus pattern constituting a nucleus of the halftone dot and a growing pattern of growing the adjacent halftone dots. The correction value is a value containing a diffusion error obtained by weighting the error of peripheral pixels of the attended pixel with an error diffusion coefficient. At least a part of the diffusion error obtained by weighting the error of the pixels determined as the nucleus pattern of the peripheral pixels with the error diffusion coefficient is not contained in the correction value, and is allocated to the adjacent pixels of the attended pixel containing the attended pixel.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily read an image such as an alignment mark in a variety of evaluation objects. SOLUTION: An image evaluation apparatus (image processing apparatus) obtains a data to be evaluated (S11), and also obtains input conditions and output conditions when the above data to be evaluated is generated (S12, S13). Then, the image evaluation apparatus determines whether parameters corresponding to the obtained input conditions and output conditions are stored (S14), and if the corresponding parameters are stored, corrects contrast in the vicinity of the alignment mark by using the parameters concerned (S15), and attempts to detect the alignment mark (S16). Meanwhile, when the parameters corresponding to the obtained input conditions and output conditions are not stored, or when the alignment mark cannot be detected even after correcting the contrast, processing for finding optimal parameters is performed (S19).
