    • PURPOSE:To provide an ink tank which can charge ink with a low-priced device, maintain charged ink uniformly and use the ink up to the bottom, and a method for ink charging into the ink tank. CONSTITUTION:An ink introducing pipe 2 is opened, and an ink holding member 3 is compressed with a compression pad 5. After the completion of compression, the ink introducing pipe 2 is closed. Ink is charged at a fixed pressure through an ink charging pipe 6. The charged ink is penetrated into the ink holding member 3. The pressure in an ink tank rises with the charged ink to push up the compression pad 5 from the inside of the ink tank. As a result, the pressure in the ink tank returns to a normal condition, and at the same time, penetration of ink into the ink holding member 3 and release of the compression condition are carried out, thus charging ink into the ink holding member 3 uniformly. At the time of compression release, the ink holding member 3 is prevented from floating with a fixed rib 4.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording head and its manufacturing method whereby a feed passage for liquid can be formed easily, and the head is manufactured efficiently and made useable to meet many kinds of liquid. SOLUTION: This ink-jet recording head has a heat-generating body array 2 of a plurality of heat-generating bodies formed on a substrate, a first groove 3 as a common liquid chamber formed in parallel to the array 2, and a second groove 7 formed at a rear face of the substrate 1 schematically orthogonal to the first groove 3. At this time, the first groove 3 and second groove 7 are communicated with each other at a part where the grooves intersect. Meanwhile, liquid discharge openings 5 corresponding to the heat-generating bodies and corresponding individual passages are formed in a nozzle plate 4 which is united with the substrate 1. The second groove 7 can be formed, e.g. by cutting simultaneously in a process wherein the substrate is cut, in other words, the second groove can be processed easily. Moreover, the substrate is constructed to be penetrated only at the intersecting part. A yield is accordingly improved without any problem in terms of strength.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording head and its manufacture whereby the ink-jet recording head can be assembled simply and accurately without being influenced by accuracy at the time of molding. SOLUTION: A groove part 3 defining an ink passage is formed of a thick resin film layer 2 layered at the side of a substrate 1. A part of a nozzle plate 4 corresponding to the ink passage is made a flat part 6. Since a minute structure is eliminated to mold and process the nozzle plate 4, no consideration into a positional shift consequent to thermal shrinkage is necessary and the nozzle plate can be molded and processed easily. Since no minute groove interfering with laser light is present, nozzle holes 5 of a predetermined shape can be opened with a correct pitch in the nozzle plate 4. In addition, the ink passage and a heat-generating body accompany no shift when the substrate 1 is bonded to the nozzle pate 4. The substrate and the nozzle plate can be bonded simply after the ink passage and the nozzle hole 5 are registered, and therefore assembled easily. The ink-jet recording head having individual ink passage of nearly uniform ink discharge characteristic is obtained in this manner.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printing head and its manufacture, of which a sealing process is simplified and, moreover, selectivity for sealants is expanded, and which is small in size and high in quality at lower cost. SOLUTION: A heater chip 1 is bonded onto a heat sink 4 to form an electrical connection 64, and a flow path forming member 2 is junctioned on the heater chip 1. Grooves extending to three ways except the side of a discharge port and communicating to ambient air in the direction of a discharge port and in the direction reverse thereto are formed on a periphery of the junctioned face of the flow path forming member 2 with the heat chip 1. Further, a joint member 3 is mounted on the flow path forming member 2, and a sealant is injected through a first sealer injection hole 31 to be hardened. At that time, the grooves of the flow path forming member 2 and a space between a plate-like portion 30 of the flow path forming member 2 and an end face of the heater chip 1 are filled with the sealer by a capillary force, whereby the heater chip 1 and the flow path forming member 2 are sealed together. Simultaneously, a connection between an ink flow path 32 in the joint member 3 and an ink supply tube 25 in the flow path forming member 2 and the electrical connection 64 are sealed.
