    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer film which has excellent visual field angle characteristics and is not likely to affect display color tone when used for a liquid crystal display as a protective layer of a polarizing plate because of its small optical anisotropy and small wavelength dispersion in optical anisotropy, and furthermore, which has a controlled laminability so that it can be suitably used in an image display device of the liquid crystal display, etc. SOLUTION: The polymer film has a front retardation value Re (λ) and a retardation value Rth (λ) in the film thickness direction which satisfy the following formula (i) and (ii) respectively. At least one surface thereof has a surface energy of 50 mN/m to 80 mN/m. Optical materials such as the optical compensation film and the polarizing plate, and the liquid crystal display are produced using the polymer film. The formula (i) is 0≤Re (630) ≤10 and ¾Rth(630)¾≤25, and the formula (ii) is ¾Re (400) -Re (700) ¾≤10 and ¾Rth (400) -Rth (700) ¾≤35, wherein Re (λ) and Rth (λ) are measured values at the wavelength λnm (unit: nm).     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet image recording material which can be effectively applied to an ink jet printing system, which can be stably conveyed in the system and which has excellent quality and to provide a method for recording an image capable of forming the image in a simple man-hour by using this material.
      SOLUTION: The ink jet image recording material is used for a recording system for continuously recording on a recording material by an ink jet system based on image information for representing the image to be recorded on a recording medium. The recording material comprises an ink image acceptive layer, an image protective layer having a porous resin structure containing a thermoplastic resin latex having the lowest film forming temperature (MFT) of 50°C or higher and containing 60% or less of a solid mass of the acceptive layer on the acceptive layer on a support, and a back coating layer provided on a surface of the support to an opposite side to the surface of the support having the acceptive layer.
