    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition which can form an optically anisotropic layer hardly delaminated from a support. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal composition contains the liquid crystal compound having a functional group capable of forming a new chemical bond and a volume expansion agent. The volume shrinkage caused by the formation of a new chemical bond is compensated by the volume expansion caused by the volume expansion agent. Preferably, the composition contains a liquid crystal compound having a polymerizable group, the volume expansion agent in which the number of molecules is increased by bond cleavage, and a polymerization initiator. The action of the polymerization initiator causes the polymerization of the liquid crystal compound and the bond cleavage of the volume expansion agent.

As a semiconductor, silicon having sensitivity increased by color element and a fine particular semiconductor such as metal chalcogenid is desirable. As the discoid compound, a compound expressed with a general formula An-k -D-(L-P)k (where P is a reactive substituent group, D is an (n)-functional group at the center, L is a group for connecting P and D or combination coupling, (n) is an integer of 3 to 8, (k) is an integer of 1-n, P is isocyanate group, amino group, acetylene group of the like, A is a substituent which does not contribute to the generation of reactive composition).

The electrondonating groups refer to a substituent of Hammett's substituent constant σp 0 or σp >0.
