    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current detector which can be reduced in size and cost and allows the detection range and the use range of detection sensitivity to be extended.SOLUTION: A current detector 100 includes a measurement object conductor 2 in which a measurement current I flows, and an excitation coil 40 magnetically coupled to the measurement object conductor 2 by a magnetic core 3 electrically insulated from the conductor 2. The current detector 100 further includes: a rectangular wave oscillation circuit 5 which generates a rectangular wave voltage Va which inverts the direction of an excitation current Iex supplied to the excitation coil 40 with the magnetic core 3 in a saturated state or a state close to it; a duty detection circuit 6 which detects the measurement current I on the basis of a duty change of the rectangular wave voltage Va outputted from the circuit 5; a variable resistance part 8 connected in series to the excitation coil 40; and a number-of-turns changeover switch 24 capable of switching the number of turns of the excitation coil 40.
