    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muifiber optical connector which can be manufactured in a short period of time with good operability. SOLUTION: Plural bare fiber insertion holes 6 are formed in the tip side of a ferrule 3, an optical fiber ribbon insertion hole 6 is formed on the base end side of the ferrule 3, and bare optical fibers 9 formed by removing the coating 14 of a ribbon 13 of optical fibers are inserted into the bare fiber insertion holes 8. Openings 2a and 2b whose upper ends are open are formed between the bare fiber insertion holes 8 and optical fiber ribbon insertion hole 6, and fiber parallel bases 5a and 5b in an isolated-land shape are formed at the openings 2a and 2b across their side walls 22 and a space; and the fiber parallel base 5a is provided with plural bare fiber array grooves 16 and the fiber parallel base 5b is provided with plural optical fiber array grooves 25. The bare optical fibers 9 are inserted into the bare fiber array grooves 16 and a fiber pressing member 4a which elastically holds the bare optical fibers 9 by embracing them from above is engaged with only the fiber parallel base 5a.

    • PURPOSE:To provide an optical connector ferrule with excellent reliability. CONSTITUTION:Regarding an optical connector ferrule having a frange 4 formed near the center part of the outside of an insertion hole body 1 which is composed of mutually communicated small diameter hole part 2 and large diameter hole part 3, wherein into the small diameter hole, a part of an optical fiber from which an optical coated fiber coating is removed is to be inserted and into the large diameter hole, the optical coated fiber part is to be inserted; the outer circumference of a part covering at least from the tip end of the small diameter part 2 of the insertion hole 1 to the part exceeding the flange 4 is formed from a hard material 5. Since the hard material 5 is used to form the part exceeding the flange 4 of the insertion hole 1, the bending strength affecting between the hard material 5 and the flange 4 is dispersed and the hard material 5 is prevented from peeling out of the flange and thus the reliability of the optical connector ferrule is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten the time of connection switching of optical fibers by providing a clearance surface to a positioning pin and making the area of contact with the inner peripheral surface of a positioning hole small, reducing the slide resistance of the positioning pin, and reducing the size of a drive source which drives the positioning pin for entering and exiting and speed up the entering and exiting motion of the positioning pin. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 2a-2f each consisting of >=1 coated optical fiber (unit) are arranged in a 1st connector and optical fibers 5a-5f each consisting of >=2 units are arranged in a 2nd connector 4 while exposed to an abutting end surface 3. The 1st connector 1 and 2nd connector 4 are provided with pairs of positioning holes 6 and positioning holes 7. The clearance surface 14 which extends in the length direction is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the positioning pin 12b inserted into the pair of positioning holes 7 at the time of the connection switching of the positioning pin 12a inserted into the pair of the positioning holes 5 and optical fibers.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a connection loss-measuring method wherein the measuring of the connection loss is easily and efficiently performed and it is not necessary to break the connecter after measuring. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 2 to be optically connected to a light source 1 is inserted into a fiber inserting hole 4 of a master connecter 3 to be bonded and fixed thereto. An optical fiber 6 to be optically connected to a power meter 5 is detachably inserted into a fiber inserting hole 8 of an optical connecter 7 to be measured and mating faces 9, 10 of the respective connecter 3, 7 confront each other so that the optical fibers 2, 6 respectively inserted into the connecter 3, 7 are optically connected with each other and the optical fiber 6 is pressed against the optical fiber 2, thereby holding the optically connecting condition. In this condition, an optical power from the light source 1 can be measured by means of the power meter 5 and in the condition wherein the optical connecter 7 to be measured is not connected to the master connecter 3, the other optical power is measured. From the difference between the optical powers, a connection loss of the optical connecter 7 to be measured is measured.
