SOLUTION: The index matching agent is interposed between the optical waveguide parts 10a which have a core and a clad and which are arranged oppositely facing each other, is used for optical butt connection between the cores, and is added with particles having essentially the same refractive index as the core and having an average grain size of 1-10 μm. The structure 1 and the method of connecting the optical waveguide parts are provided.

SOLUTION: In this optical connector housing, a long and narrow latch is formed, in an elastically deformable manner, integrally with the outside of the main body, which can be inserted into or pulled out from an adaptor for the optical connector; the latch is provided with a projection to be engaged with the adaptor when inserted into it, and is formed thicker in the further side of the projection than in the nearer side. In addition, the latch is made thicker gradually from the nearer side of the projection toward the further side. Moreover, the lower face of the latch is designed to have a tapered face inclined upward gradually from the further side of the projection toward the nearer side. The optical connector of this invention has a ferrule stored in the housing for the optical connector.
