摘要： PURPOSE: To improve yield without causing the bias of the positions of arranging fiber holes or synthetic resin on the side of a ferrule to the inner periphery of a connector member by forming the connector member to be provided around an abutting end face with plural optically transparent split bodies. CONSTITUTION: A ferrule 11 in which the front face of a projecting part projecting toward the front side is an abutting end face 11a is fitted to the end part of an optical fiber tape 12, and an optically transparent connector member 13 is provided around the abutting end face 11a. The ferrule 11 is formed so that plural opened fiber holes are longitudinally formed in parallel in the abutting end face 11a at the front part at prescribed pitches. The ferrule 11 is confronted to or abutted on an optical device on the abutting end face 11a. The connector member 13 is formed by adhering four split bodies 13a-13d with an adhesive, in which an opening is formed at its center, and the end face is inclined. The split bodies 13a-13d consist respectively of optically transparent 'Pyrex(R)' glass, for example.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the adhesive strength of a connection end face by providing an ultraviolet ray transmissive reinforcing part at least on the outer periphery of the end except the base of a substrate in an optical waveguide chip. SOLUTION: This optical waveguide module 1 is provided with a chip block 2 and the termination end 4 of a multiple-coated optical fiber tape 3. The chip block 2 is equipped with the optical waveguide chip 10 and a reinforcing member 20. In the chip 10, an optical waveguide 12 consisting of a quartz waveguide is formed on the upper surface of the substrate 11 constituted of a silicon wafer. The member 20 is a chip formed of tempered glass and fixed on the upper surface and both side surfaces except the base of the substrate 11 at both ends of the chip 10 with adhesive. The butting connection end face of the chip 10 and the termination part 4 has a specified angle, and the waveguide 12 and the optical fiber 5 of the fiber tape 3 are fixed with the ultraviolet-curing type adhesive in a state where their optical axes are aligned.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide device which can easily and precisely be assembled and manufactured. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide device is formed by fitting and mounting connection end members 2 and 3, which are engaged by engagement recessed parts 16 while surrounding both the flanks and top surface 10 of a waveguide chip 1, having a core part 6 and a clad part 5 formed on a substrate 4, so that the connection end surfaces 25a and 25b of the waveguide chip 1 are exposed on the connection end surfaces 25a and 25b. On both the sides of the top surface 10 of the waveguide chip 1, V grooves 8a and 8b are formed to the overall length of the waveguide chip 1 and at the engagement recessed parts 16 of the connection end materials 2 and 3, inverted V grooves 14 and 15 are formed at the positions corresponding to the V grooves 8a and 8b. An optical fiber 9 for positioning is arranged to the overall length of the V grooves 8a and 8b and both the end sides of the optical fiber 9 are clamped with the V grooves 8a and 8b and inverted V grooves 14 and 15 to position the waveguide chip 1 and connection end members 2 and 3.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-fiber optical connector capable of alternately making the respective light rays entering from first and second optical fiber ribbons incident in order of the optical passage arrangement of optical parts juxtaposed with plural optical paths. SOLUTION: This multi-fiber optical connector is formed by arranging the first optical fiber ribbon 6a juxtaposed with four pieces of first coated optical fibers 3a and the second optical fiber ribbon 6b juxtaposed with four pieces of the second coated optical fibers 3b in superposition on each other, removing the coatings on the front end side of the respective optical fiber ribbons 6a, 6b, changing the arrangement of the first and second bare optical fibers 4a, 4b so as to alternately arrange these optical fibers and arranging the bare optical fibers 4a, 4b in a ferrule 2 in such a manner that the arranging pitch attains the size approximately coinciding with the outside diameter of the bare optical fibers. The light of the wavelength λ1 made incident from the optical fiber ribbon 6a is emitted from the bare optical fiber 4a and the light of the wavelength λ2 made incident from the optical fiber ribbon 6b is emitted from the bare optical fiber 6b, by which the light rays of the wavelengths λ1 and λ2 are alternately emitted.

摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a waveguide type module which is connectable to optical parts, such as optical connectors, with low connection loss and a process for producing this module. CONSTITUTION: Fitting guide grooves 8 extended in the longitudinal direction of optical waveguides 5 are formed on both sides across the optical waveguide forming region of a waveguide chip 15 produced by forming the optical waveguides 5 on a substrate 4. Positioning and fitting pins 6 for connection of the waveguide chip 15 are fixed into these fitting guide grooves 8 and the connecting end face 13 side of the waveguide chip 15 is provided with an upper protective plate 20 consisting of 'Pyrex (R)' glass covering at least the waveguide forming region without contact with these positioning and fitting pins 6, by which the waveguide module 1 is formed. Production of the waveguide type module 1 is executed by fixing the upper protective plate 20 onto the waveguide chip 15 and polishing the connecting end face 14 of the upper protective plate 20 and the connecting end face 13 of the waveguide chip 15 in such a manner that both connecting end faces 14, 13 are made flush with each other, then fitting and fixing the positioning and fitting pins 6 into the fitting guide grooves 8.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide an optical fiber terminal part moldable with high accuracy, therefore, excellent in connectability with an optical device, easy and inexpensive in production and substantially preventing disconnection of optical fibers and a process for producing this terminal part and a connecting structure of the terminal part and the optical device. CONSTITUTION:This optical fiber terminal part 10 has a ferrule 11 which has a butt end face 11e to be opposed or butted to or against the optical device 20 and single fiber hole or plural fiber holes formed in parallel at a prescribed pitch and adheres and fixes the optical fibers 13a by inserting the one-side ends of these fibers into the respective fiber holes. The optical fibers 13a are optically connected to the optical device 20 in the terminal part. This process for production is for such optical fiber terminal part. This connecting structure is for the terminal part 10 and the optical device 20. The ferrule 11 consists of a molding of a synthetic resin and is provided with at least one connecting member 12 on the butt end face side with the optical device 20. The connecting member 12 has the coefft. of linear expansion set smaller than the coefft. of linear expansion of the synthetic resin constituting the ferrule 11.
