CONSTITUTION:The finger print collating device is constituted of a finger print sensor 1 for reading out a finger print image, an image processing part 10 for executing the binarizing processing, line thinning processing, etc., of the finger print image read out from the sensor 1, a primary feature point extracting circuit 20 for extracting a primary feature point from the finger print image read out from the processing part 10, a secondary feature point extracting circuit 30 for tracing a line including the primary feature point extracted by the circuit 20 and extracting a secondary feature point, a finger print dictionary registering part 40 for registering the outputs of the circuits 20, 30 as a finger print dictionary, a dictionary storing part 43 for storing the dictionary, and a finger print collating part 50 for judging the authenticety of the finger print image by collating data up to the secondary feature point after the coincidence of the primary feature point at the time of collation.

    • PURPOSE:To rapidly and accurately position a dictionary pattern and an inputted finger print image by providing this finger print collating device with a net pattern extracting means for extracting a net pattern to be registered in a dictionary together with a feature pattern and using the net pattern registered in the dictionary for positining based upon a collating means. CONSTITUTION:The finger print collating device is provided with the net pattern extracting means 22 for registering a net pattern obtained by extracting an image of a net part set up in a finger print image in the dictionary 14 together with a feature pattern at the time of forming the dictionary 14, and at the time of positioning based upon the collating means 18, the net pattern 20 registered in the dictionary 14 is used for the positioning. Even if a partially unreproducible part exists in the inputted finger print image or the image is distored, positioning can be accurately executed without receiving the influence of the defective image, and since the rate of the area of the net part to the whole area is small, processing for extracting the image of the net part can be executed within a short period. Consequently, the positioning of the finger print image can be rapidly and accurately executed and the performance of the finger print collating device can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To evade the fetch of a remaining fingerprint image and at the same time to secure the safety with a fingerprint reader by inhibiting the collation of fingerprints when the irradiation of the disturbance light is detected. CONSTITUTION:A position on a light leading plate 11a containing a remaining fingerprint where a forefinger 8a is pressed is irradiated with the disturbance light having the luminous intensity higher than a prescribed level. This disturbance light is detected by a disturbance light sensor 9a and this detection signal is sent to a control part 7b. Then the part 7b sends the action commands to a read inhibiting part 15 and a reporting part 16. Thus the part 15 inhibits a photodetecting sensor 2a in regard of its photodetection. As a result, the sensor 2 never receives the reflects light of the remaining fingerprint on the plate 11a even if the reflected light reaches the sensor 2. The part 16 actuates a buzzer 41 to report the detection of the disturbance light. Thus it is possible to prevent the collation of remaining fingerprints.

    • PURPOSE:To easily calculate the center position of a fingerprint by selecting plural sections having the largest number of coordinates respectively, selecting the least section out of those selected sections, and calculating the center position of a fingerprint shown in a binary image based on the coordinates stored in the least section. CONSTITUTION:A detection means 111 calculates the degree of discordance against a linear pattern set parallel to a prescribed 1st axis for each point of a binary image showing a fingerprint. Then the means 111 detects the points having their degrees of noncoincidence lower than the threshold value. A coordinate storing means 131 introduces the coordinates which show the positions of points detected by the means 111 in terms of the components of the 1st axis direction and a 2nd axis direction. Then the means 131 stores the coordinates after sorting them into plural sections in accordance with the value of the component of the 2nd axis direction. A calculation means 141 selects a section having the largest number of stored coordinates among those sections stored in the means 131 and then selects a section having the least number of coordinates. Then the means 141 calculates the center position of a fingerprint shown in a binary image based on the coordinates stored in the least section. In such a constitution, the center position of a fingerprint is simply calculated.
