    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to suppress the slip of a pivot and to deal with high-speed operation by allowing an intermediate member having the hardness smaller than the hardness of the pivot for abutment of the pivot to exist on a surface facing the pivot of the gimbals to be mounted with a head slider and intruding the pivot into the intermediate member. SOLUTION: The pivot 5 is formed at the front end of a load beam 1 made of stainless steel. The gimbals 2 made of stainless steel is mounted by spot welding to the region of the load beam 1 on the side nearer the base end side of the pivot 5. The surface of the gimbals 2 facing a disk is provided with the head slider 3. The intermediate member 7 is formed on the surface of the gimbals 2 facing the load beam 1. Materials having a high viscosity and relatively small hardness, for example, resins, such as polyimide, and metals, such as Au, are used as the material constituting the intermediate member 7. The pivot 5 presses the intermediate member 7 having the hardness smaller than the hardness of the pivot 5 to recess the intermediate member 7. As a result, the slip of the pivot 5 and the gimbals 2 is suppressed.

    • PURPOSE:To make a further contribution to the reduction in the thickness of the device by narrowing the spacing between the recording surface of a magnetic disk and the rear surface of a supporting spring of the head assembly of a magnetic disk device to be widely used for external storage devices of various kinds of computers. CONSTITUTION:The head assembly having a head slider 2, a flexer 11 which supports this head slider and is formed with a signal conductor pattern 11-1a conducting to the magnetic head 2 on the surface facing this magnetic disk and a supporting arm 3 which supports this flexer 11 are provided. A turn back part 11a is formed at the side end of at least one side of the flexer 11 and a connecting land 11-1b conducting to the signal conductor pattern 11-1a is provided in this turn back part 11a. This turn back part 11a is turned back to arrange the connecting land 11-1b on the surface not facing the magnetic disk surface so that this land can be connected to a conductor pattern 14-1 for signals from the outside.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the positional deviation of a magnetic disk in the direction of a spindle shaft by providing the flange of a spindle hub to almost the center in the upper and lower direction of the spindle hub and laminating the magnetic disk and a spacing ring from both upper and lower directions of the flange. CONSTITUTION:The spindle hub 3 is fitted to the spindle shaft 1 through roll bearings 2 and 2' so that it can be rotated. Then, the flange 4 for laminating the magnetic disk 5 is provided to almost the center of the hub 3 in the upper and lower direction (the shaft direction) of the hub 3. The plural magnetic disks 5 are laminated on the upper surface and the lower surface of the flange 4 alternately with the spacing ring 6 and the upper most layer thereof is pressed and fixed by a screw 8 through a clamp ring 7. Thus, the positional deviation quantity of the laminated magnetic disk 5 in the upper and lower direction is reduced. Besides, the precise floating quantity of a head is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency and the precision of the spring setting of a spring arm by easily changing the spring pressure of the spring arm by changing optionally the clamping quantity of a clamping screw to hold a pressing member. CONSTITUTION:When the clamping screw 28 at the spring arm fixing part of a supporting arm 25 is fastened gradually, the starting part 24 of the spring arm 21 is pushed downward by the tip end of the pressing member 27, and since the spring part 21b at said part too is bent downward, the spring pressure of the arm 21 toward a disk medium side can be strengthened. Accordingly, by changing optionally the clamping quantity of the clamping screw 28 upon the pressing member 27, the floating quantity of a head slider 23 from the disk medium can be kept constant. Thus, the pressing force of the head slider for a disk non-recording medium at the initial period of drive can be easily and simply adjusted and controlled so as to be the prescribed pressing force.
