    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the rotary driving load of an image carrier at a low level and to obtain an image of high quality by constituting a device so that 1st and 2nd rotary shafts may be moved relatively in a linear direction linking between the rotational centers of the shafts. SOLUTION: A rotational center line of an image carrier is aligned with the rotational center line of a driven gear 2a, and the rotational center of the driven gear 2a, the rotational center of an idler gear 3a and the rotational center of a driving motor output gear 10a are arranged on a straight line in a vertical direction. The rotary shaft with the driven gear 2a fixed is supported by a housing with high rigidity. The idler gear 3a is fixed on an idler gear bracket 33a which is controlled by a pair of slide guides 34a for the idler gear as a control means so that the bracket 33a may be moved in only the vertical direction (linear direction linking the axial centers of the gears), but, not moved in a horizontal direction, and the gear 3a is fitted while being energized by a spring 35a as an elastic body in the vertical direction by a fixed pressure with reference to the driven gear 2a.

Therefore, unwanted toner heaping and sticking on the edge part of the image part due to edge development is prevented and further, the toner is never pushed to the side of the background part by the flowing of a dispersion liquid, etc.

When the temperature of the roll 1 exceeds the set value, and AND circuit is made unoperated, and the relay contact is opened, and the power supply to the roll 1 is stopped automatically. When the lever 12 is turned down to separate the roll 3 from the roll 1, the switch 16 is made unoperated, and the power supply to the roll 1 is stopped automatically; and in this state, even if a connector in a power supply circuit of the heater 2 is attached or detached, the damage is prevented because of no current.

During a fixing operation, the heat roller 2 and a pressure roller 3 are turned under a pressure-contacted condition and, when the rollers 2 and 3 rotate, a solvent 4 contained in the heat pipe 5 of the roller 3 thoroughly wets the inner wall of the heat pipe 5 and the heat pipe 5 sufficiently exerts its capability as a heat pipe. When fixing a small-sized paper for example, the temperature at the end sections of the roller 2 where the paper does not pass through is absorbed by the solvent 4 and occurrence of an abnormally high temperature is prevented and the heat energy absorbed by the solvent 4 is transferred to the paper passing section of the roller 2 so as to rise the temperature at the paper passing section. Therefore, operations are made to improve the fixing efficiency through an elastic member 6.
