    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic watch authentication method which can be started up quickly to perform authentication checks of watches without using external equipment.SOLUTION: An electronic watch 1, which displays time using hands 6, 7, includes at least one processing and control circuit having a time base and means of storing personal data and/or identification data representing a brand and/or a serial number. For authentication, at least one of start-up sections 4, 4' connected to the processing and control circuit starts up to switch to authentication mode. When the start-up section is operable, an indicator device having the time hands visually shows watch authentication information. The hands 6, 7 move on a dial plate 5 to show each of a series of numbers or a number corresponding to an authentication code that is checked to authenticate the electronic watch 1. The hands 6, 7 are capable of following a specific trajectory on the dial plate 5 to authenticate the electronic watch 1.
