    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing material having good adhesiveness to a matrix such as a resin or rubber, having high heat resistance, high strength, high elastic modulus, small coefficient of thermal expansion and good dimensional stability and useful for an insulating and low-dielectric material as high-density printed circuit board and for a conjugate material containing a resin or rubber as a matrix. SOLUTION: A poly-para-phenylene terephthalamide (PPTA) fiber has ≥90 GPa modulus of elongation, ≤10 absolute value of coefficient of linear expansion (10 -6 /°C) and ≥25 MPa interfacial shear strength. A method for producing the PPTA fiber comprises impregnating an impregnating agent into a fiber obtained by spinning a sulfuric acid solution of poly-para-phenylene terephthalamide, neutralizing a spun material, drying the neutralized material at low temperature and winding the dried material in 15-200 mass% moisture content to provide a fiber conjugate and then, simultaneously applying heat treatment and tension to the fiber conjugate at 100-500°C under tense conditions to control elastic modulus of PPTA fiber.
