SOLUTION: A grip state estimation means 10 estimates a road surface μm in ordinary traveling, namely, non-operation state of ABS and outputs a road surface μ gradient and the road surface μ as tire grip state quantities. When the tire grip state quantity is smaller than the reference value, a target deceleration initial value computing means 12 sets the initial value of the target deceleration to be a reference of starting the ABS control smaller than usual. A wheel deceleration computing means 16 computes the wheel speed and wheel deceleration and inputs the computed wheel deceleration in a difference calculator 18. When the wheel deceleration becomes larger than the initial value of the target deceleration, an ABS control start judgment means 20 outputs ABS control start signals. When the ABS control start signals are inputted, an ABS control means 22 starts the ABS control and reduces the wheel cylinder oil pressure so as to prevent the wheel from being locked.

In this way, feeling of disorder of crews can be suppressed so that any unstableness of a vehicle can be prevented.

SOLUTION: Master cylinder pressure of a master cylinder 11 is generated in accordance with the operation of a brake pedal 22 to give wheel braking force to each wheel FL, FR, RL, RR by wheel cylinders 12 to 15 by receiving the master cylinder pressure. Brake pressure applied on these wheel cylinders 12 to 15 is reduced by a solenoid valve 25 having a three-ports and three- positions structure by receiving a control signal from an anti-skid control means of an electronic controller 30. At this time, when stroke amount of the master cylinder 11 exceeds a predetermined amount, the adjustment of the reduction of pressure of each wheel cylinder 12 to 15 in the anti-skid control means of the electronic controller 30 is inhibited. Consequently, it is possible to prevent a dead ending of the master cylinder 11 accurately.
