    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foam-paper cup having a foam layer with sufficient heat-insulation effect, of which only a thermoplastic resin layer of the surface of the paper cup expands, and, furthermore, which can be produced without increasing a forming temperature during cup formation and under the same conditions as those required for the formation of an ordinary paper cup and can form satisfactory-adhesion-having heat-seal under the same conditions as the heat-seal temperature of an ordinary lid. SOLUTION: The cup is a paper cup A consisting of a body 1 and a bottom 2, and at least the body 1 is composed of a laminate body comprising, in the following order from the side of it, a thermoplastic resin foam-layer, a base- material layer made of paper as its main material, and a thermoplastic resin layer. The thermoplastic resin layer consists of two layers, one being a layer of polyethylene resin having a high melting point which is formed on the side of the base-material layer made of the paper as the main material, and a layer of polyethylene resin having a low melting point formed on the innermost side. The range of the melting point of the polyethylene resin having the high melting point is 120-130 deg.C, and the range of the melting point of the polyethylene resin having the low melting point is 100-120 deg.C.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the foaming sufficient, and impart a heat insulating effect which is uniform for the whole surface by a method wherein a transparent varnish layer is provided between a base material layer of which the major component is paper, and a thermoplastic resin layer which becomes a foam layer. SOLUTION: An expanded paper cup A is constituted of a body part 1 and a bottom part 2, and for the material constitution of the body part 1 or the bottom part 2, paper 3 is made a base material, and on the surface side, a printing layer 4 and a transparent varnish layer 5 are provided. Both front and rear surface sides of these layers are covered with thermoplastic resin layers 6, 7. When the cup A is manufactured, a laminate wherein on both front and rear surfaces of the paper 3, being the base material, on which the printing and the transparent varnish have been applied, the thermoplastic resin layers 6, 7 are laminated, is made into a blank sheet with the shape of the body part 1 of the paper cup by punching, and the body part 1 is joined to the bottom part 2, and formed into a paper cup. By heating the formed paper cup, moisture in the paper evaporates, and the steam pressure and thermal expansion of air jointly work, and on the thermoplastic resin layer 6 on the surface, an expanded structure is formed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strengthen a top curl part without bringing about an increase in cost and making the top curl part unpleasant to the palate by molding a paper cup having the top curl part by using a blank provided with a resin layer and subsequently heating the top curl part to the melting temp. of the resin of the resin layer or higher. SOLUTION: A paper cup 1 having a top curl part 4 is molded by using a blank having a resin layer having heat sealability formed to at least one surface thereof and the top curl part 4 is heated to the melting temp. of the resin of the resin layer or higher to be strengthened. The top curl part 4 of the paper cup 1 is heated by hot air 41 having temp. equal to or higher than the m.p. of the resin of the resin layer within a hot air device 42 and subsequently cooled. By this constitution, the paper cup having the strengthened top curl part having no problem from an aspect of molding, not increased in cost and pleasant to the palate at a time of direct drinking from a mouth can be obtained.
