    • PURPOSE:To easily remove scale on the surface of heat-treated steel material by starting cooling in a specific temp. range after executing the heat treatment of the hot-rolled steel material and rapidly cooling in the transformation temp. range of the wustite generation on the interface of iron matrix. CONSTITUTION:The hot-rolled steel material or the drawn steel material is heat-treated. The cooling is started for the heat treated steel material at the temp. or lower where the temp. near the surface caused no oxidative decarburization, and in the range of the temp. where no magnetite is generated in the interface of the iron matrix in the steel material. The steel material starting the cooling is rapidly cooled at least in the transformation temp. range of the wustite generated on the interface of the iron matrix. The scale stuck to the surface of the steel material starting the cooling and rapidly cooled, has the wustite on the interface of the iron matrix. On the surface of this wustite, the magnetite caused by oxidizing thereof is deposited and many deep cracks reaching the wustite on the interface of the iron matrix are generated. This scale can easily be removed by pickling and mechanical peeling.

    • PURPOSE:To treat safely and surely the carbide slag used for the dephosphorization of a molten steel so that said slag is made harmless by mixing the slag with slag having low basicity in a molten state, adding iron oxide thereto and blowing an oxygen-contg. gas to the mixture thereby stirring the slag. CONSTITUTION:The carbide slag used for the dephosphorization of the molten steel is mixed in the molten state with the slag of the low basicity used in arc furnace steel making and the iron oxide such as scale generated in a working stage is added thereto, then the oxygen-contg. gas is blown thereto to stir the slag, by which the phosphorus existing in the carbide slag is converted to a phosphoric acid. More specifically, the carbide slag of the dephosphorization can be treated to be made harmless without increasing the consumption. The treatment is executed by making use of the slag and scale produced in the stage for steel making, etc. in the more preferable embodiment and therefore the effective utilization of waste is made possible. Since the heat inertia of the slag having the low m.p. and viscosity is utilized, there is no energy consumption and the approximately thorough oxidation of phosphorus is executed in a short period of time. The sure detoxicating treatment is thus made possible.

    • PURPOSE:To considerably extend the life of refractory bricks near tuyeres while maintaining the inside volume of a smelting vessel as it is by projecting the sheath shell near the tuyeres of the vessel to the outside and increasing the thickness of the refractory bricks near the tuyeres. CONSTITUTION:The sheath shell 1 near the tuyeres 3 in the inverted circular truncated cone part provided with the tuyeres 3 of the vessel forms the projecting part 5 which projects to the part of a cylindrical belly part 4 in the upper part of the tuyeres. The refractory bricks 2 are lined to the inside of the projecting part 5 of the shell 1. The refractory bricks 2 lined to the projecting part 5 can be, therefore, increased in thickness by as much as the shell 1 projects. As a result, the operation can be continued without the need for replacing the bricks even if the surface part of the refractory bricks 2 is slightly worn by a molten metal at the time of the smelting operation.
