SOLUTION: The device includes a means for generating an object beam 2 encoded by spatial modulation with data to be stored, and means for generating a reference beam 1 spatially modulated according to predetermined configurations to produce multiplexing of the data. The means for generating the reference beam includes an optical recording medium 11B on which implemented a succession of diffractive optical elements, each introducing a distinct modulation configuration of the reference beam. A device reads the duly-stored data by using an optical recording medium 11A of the same type for generating and spatially modulating a read beam 1b.
