    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple asbestos determining method for matching even to above 0.1% of a sample in an asbestos determining method causing no false determination of asbestos content even in a case that rock wool is contained in a building material or warm material.
      SOLUTION: The asbestos determining method is constituted of a pretreatment step (1) for filtering and separating the slurry raw solution subjected to first eluting operation performed by dripping a pretreatment solution (aqueous solution of formic acid or the like) on a ground sample to leave the same to stand by a membranous filter medium, a determining sample preparing step (2) for preparing a determining sample through second eluting operation performed by dripping a dissolving solution (strong acid aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid or the like) on the filter residue on the membranous filter medium, and a coloration determining step (3) for adding a coloration reaction reagent (color forming solution) of Mg or Fe being a coloration determining reagent of asbestos to the determining sample to determine the presence of asbestos by coloration.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rock wool screening method rapidly and simply judging the presence of rock wool in a building material or a heat insulation material.
      SOLUTION: The rock wool screening method for judging the presence of rock wool in a sample through the color reaction of an iron component is composed of: the pretreatment process (1) of bringing the sample 14 in a ground state into contact with an acidic aqueous solution 16 of an organic acid to elute a sample attached metal component and subsequently washing the sample after solid-liquid separation with refined water; the judging liquid preparing process (2) of bringing the sample 14 after the pretreatment process into contact with an acidic aqueous solution (dissolving solution) 25 of a non-oxidizable inorganic acid to elute a judging component and subsequently separating the eluate of the judging component from the sample to prepare a judging solution 15; and the coloration judging process (3) of adding an iron component coloration reagent 26 to the judging solution 15 and appropriately adjust pH to a coloration stable region by a pH adjusting solution 28 to judge the presence of coloration.
