    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-intake control method for a run-of-river type hydro-electric power plant which enables reduction in damage to the equipment of the power plant and an increase in the availability of the power plant, in consideration of not only the volume of water but also sand included in river water.
      SOLUTION: The water-intake control method for the run-of-river type hydro-electric power plant is characterized in that: turbidity in a river 1 adjacent to a regulating gate 5 of an intake is measured by means of a turbidity meter 20; the regulating gate 5 is closed for stopping water intake when the turbidity reaches an upper limit value of the turbidity or above during the opening of the regulating gate 5; and the water intake is restarted by opening the regulating gate 5 when the turbidity reaches a lower limit value of the turbidity or below during the closing of the regulating gate 5. The water-intake control method makes an increase in the turbidity rapidly detected in the rising of the river so as to stop the water intake, and early restarts the water intake in accordance with the turbidity after a peak of the rising of the river has been passed so as to reduce damage to the equipment of the power plant and increase the availability of the power plant.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bird-repelling system emitting stimuli to which birds are hardly acclimated and also easy to install without affecting the peaceful environment for neighbouring residents and passersby.
      SOLUTION: The bird-repelling system includes multiple light emitters 1 turned to directions differing from each other. In this system, each of the light emitters 1 is equipped with a light-turning-on/off control unit 2 functioning to vary in an irregularly periodical way two or more parameters among lighting time, lighting-out time, emission wavelength and mutual turning-on/off timing, wherein the control unit 2 is constituted of an exclusive subcontrol unit 3 for each of the light emitters 1.
