    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a LAN repeater capable of avoiding operational abnormality caused by version mismatching between data loaded to equipment on one LAN side and the data loaded to equipment on the other LAN side.
      SOLUTION: A first reception means 11 of a LAN repeater 10 receives version information of data loaded to equipment from the equipment on the side of a trunk LAN 20 and a second reception means 13 receives version information of data from equipment on the side of a base LAN 30. A control means 15 compares the received version information to each other and controls the continuation and stop of relay processing in accordance with a result of the comparison. For example, if the version information agrees completely, the data are relayed; and when there is mismatching, relay processing is stopped. Alternatively, if high-order digits are agree, regardless of whether low-order digits of the version information agree, the data are relayed; and if high-order digits do not agree, relay processing is stopped.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely specify the node wherein an abnormality occurs, when it occurs in a reproduction and relay function of any one of a plurality of nodes connected to a network.
      SOLUTION: All frame data 10 which are transmitted from a boundary node 4a, and reproduced and repeated by nodes 4b-4n, are captured by an abnormality detection node 11 connected to the most downstream side of a transmission direction, at a position adjacent to the boundary node 4a. An abnormality detecting device 12 applies an examination code inspection to all the data which are captured by the abnormality detection node 11 and when it is detected that abnormal data are caused in the frame data 10, abnormality information is transmitted to data monitors 14a, 14b. When the abnormality information is received, the data monitors 14a, 14b reproduce and store all the data in the frame data 10 under transmission. A decision processing apparatus 15 reads stored two sets of data, applies examination code inspection thereto, decides whether or not abnormal data are caused, and specifies the region wherein the abnormal data are caused.
