    • PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of an interference fringe, by providing projections on one, at least, of the face of a polarizing plate, which faces to an electrode substrate, and the face of this substrate which faces to the polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION:A lower polarizing plate 7 is stuck to a substrate 2 and is stuck to a reflective plate 8 also. Since the face of an upper polarizing plate 3 which faces to a substrate 1 is a rugged face having projections 9, the polarizing plate 3 and the substrate 1 are arranged at a prescribed interval, and thus, the occurrence of the interference fringe between the substrate and the polarizing plate is prevented effectively. This ruggedness is formed by a nonglare treatment or is formed on the polarizing plate or the substrate by a printed ink layer which has the form of characters, numbers, marks, or the like provided by the screen printing method. The rugged minute structure where scattering of the light is little and the transparency of the polarizing plate is held is desirable.

    • PURPOSE:To perform a readable and obvious display by changing colors to be displayed of display information, by forming the liquid crystal display device in the form of multilayer to enclose different-color transmission type liquid crystals into each layer and by establishing a white-colored diffusing plate on the back of the display device to drive the device selectively. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display device is formed in two layers or more, between the upper glass substrates 2, 3, for example, a nagative type blue-colored GH liquid crystal 6 is enclosed and between the lower glass substrate 3, 4 a red- colored GH liquid crystal 7 is enclosed. Further at the outside of a glass substrate 4, a white-colored diffusion plate 12 to permit external light to diffuse and to transmit from the rear is arranged. In this mechanism, by selecting properly application of voltage to transparent electrodes 8, 9 in the first layer and transparent electrodes 10, 11 in the second layer to drive a display path in each layer, three kinds of different display colores such as white, blue and red are obtained. Therefore, in composite electronic devices, etc. the displayed color of information can be changed according to the different functions (a function for calculation, water, calender and others).
