CONSTITUTION:Toner supplied from a toner supply port 16 is agitated and conveyed while moving axially through a screw shaft 9 together with an existent developer. The mixed and agitated developer moves on a developing sleeve 71 and its circulation is controlled between a circulation control member 17 and a magnetic pole S3; and the developer on the sleeve 71 after a latent image carrier A is developed and a developer conveyed to the screw shaft 8 come together and are mixed and agitated and while part of the mixture is conveyed toward the shaft 8, the remainder passes through a circulation control member 10 and to control the layer thickness of the developer by a nonmagnetic blade 12, thereby developing the latent image on the carrier A nearby a magnetic pole N2. The developer conveyed toward the shaft 8 is conveyed in an axial direction of the shaft 8 opposite from a shaft 9, so that part of it is conveyed toward the sleeve and the remainder is conveyed toward the shaft 9. The developer on the sleeve 71 is leveled almost uniformly in the axial direction when moving axially by the shaft 8.
