    • PURPOSE:To enhance image quality by arranging an electrostatic latent image bearing body and a toner carrying body opposite to each other spaced in a constant distance, and carrying the nonmagnetic toner having specified high specific gravity on said carrying body in a layer thickness smaller than said distance, and regulated to a specified packed density. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic latent image bearing drum 1 and the toner carrying sleeve 2 are held opposite to each other spaced in a prescribed distance. The toner 5 is placed in a hopper 3 provided with a coating means 4. The drum 1 and the sleeve 2 are rotated in the arrow direction, and the toner 5 is attached to an electrostatic latent image to develop it. The substantially nonmagnetic toner having a true specific gravity of >=1.2 is used and regulated to a layer thickness smaller than said distance and to a packed density of 0.1-0.6g/cm with the coating means 4 and carried with the sleeve 2. Since the comparatively heavy toner is used and the packed density is exactly controlled, the toner can be prevented from scattering and fogging and an image can be made sharp.
