    • PURPOSE:To obtain pressure contacting boards which easily and automatically opens and closes, by stopping the driving of the power supplying means at an intermediate time point and changing the driving into braking actions, when the manuscript pressure contacting member is rotated from a location where the pressure contacting is not performed to another location where the pressure contacting is performed. CONSTITUTION:When a motor 14 starts its working through a copy signal delivered from the main body 1, a clutch 21 also starts working simultaneously and starts to close a frame member 9 and a pressure contacting board 3. When opened, the pressure contacting board 3 is self-standing by means of a spring action, but, when it is closed, the board tends to drop from a point due to the self-weight. However, when the driving power of the motor 14 is cut and a braking power is applied through a means, such as DC impression, to the board at the point from where the board starts to drop, the closing speed of the pressure contacting board becomes slow and the board will stop easily when it touches a manuscript table 2 or a manuscript. When the pressure contacting board is to be opened, the motor 14 is reversely rotated when the rear end of the copy signal is detected and the clutch is moved, and the pressure contacting board is opened. When the board reaches its self-standing position, the clutch is released.

    • PURPOSE:To automatically open or close an original press-contacting plate and permit sure press-contacting of thick originals as well by combining the original press-contacting plate which is rotatable and is vertically movable and a driving source. CONSTITUTION:An original press-contacting plate 3 having an elastic original press-contacting member 4 is rotatable around a turning shaft 8, and is vertically movable along a guide 5. Hence, when a thick original is placed on an original placing plate 2, the place 3 can conform to the thickness of the origonal. The leading end of the plate 3 is engaged to the leading end of a frame member 9 turning around a turning shaft 10, by means of an engaging pin 12. This member 9 is driven by a motor 14 via a crank mechanism to perform opening or closing operation. According to this, the plate 3 makes opening or closing operation as well. In this way, thick originals such as a book are surely press-contacted by automatically opening or closing the original press-contacting plate.
