    • PURPOSE: To provide an antifouling paint which can prevent deposition of marine microorganisms and has slum resistance, containing a heterocyclic compd. contg. sulfur and nitrogen atoms as an active ingredient.
      CONSTITUTION: An antifouling paint contains a heterocyclic compd. contg. at least three sulfur and nitrogen atoms of the formula as an active ingredient. Examples of the heterocyclic compds. are N,N'-ethylenebisthio-carbamoyl sulfide and 2,7-dioxo-1-thia-3,6-diazacycloheptane. The paint is prepd. by using a resin or a triorganotin-contg. copolymer as a vehicle and adding said active ingredient thereto. The active ingredient is used in a quantity of 55wt% or below, pref. 0.1W40wt% based on that of the paint. As the vehicle, the triorganotin-cotg. copolymer is particularly preferred.

    • PURPOSE: To provide an antifouling paint capable of exhibiting an excellent antifouling effect on marine organisms over a long period of time, by using a specified triorganotin-contg. copolymer capable of controlling hydrolysis rate as a vehicle.
      CONSTITUTION: 50W90wt% monoethylenically unsaturated triorganotin monomer (A) of the formula (wherein R
      1 is H, methyl; R
      2 is a 1W8C alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl), e.g. triethyltin acrylate, 5W30wt% at least one acrylic or vinyl monomer (B) (e.g. vinyl acetate) and 2W40wt% monoethylenically unsaturated monomer (C) having cycloalkyl, aryl, branched alkyl or branched ester as a pendant skeleton (e.g. cyclohexyl acrylate) are solution-polymerized. The resulting triorganotin- contg. copolymer is used as a vehicle to obtain the desired antifouling paint.
