摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel data communication system which enables data transmission over existing telephone lines at rates higher than possible, including conventional modems. SOLUTION: By using a novel asymmetric configuration of the two communication endpoints, the currently-accepted maximum theoretical limits on the data rate are no longer applicable. One endpoint is connected directly to a digital telephone network, whereas the other endpoint uses a conventional telephone connection. This reduces the transmission problem to compensation for a single telephone line interface and a single analog local loop. Means of providing this compensation and the required clock synchronization were also created, enabling a practical implementation of the system. The new system can achieve rates up to 64,000 bits-per-second and has broad utility in several active areas including wide-band audio transmission, video transmission, networking, facsimile transmission, and remote computer access. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new data communication system for performing data transfer at a rate higher than a rate realized in a conventional method, in which a regular modem is included. SOLUTION: A current maximum theoretical limit about data rate is not applicable in a new unsymmetrical structure for two communication end points. One end point is connected directly to a digital telephone network, while conventional telephone connection is used at the other end point. As a result, the problem of transfer can be ascribed to compensation for single telephone line interface and single analog local loop. A means for offering the compensation and a clock synchronization means are generated and practical implementation is enabled in the system.
