    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a ceramic product having excellent heat resistance by recycling a waste insulator.SOLUTION: In order to avoid the problem that when the waste insulator is crushed, a cap within the insulator breaks at the same time and cement (mortar) bonding metal or pin fittings enters and deteriorates fire resistance, when a waste insulator is coarsely crushed by a jaw crusher, the distance of an opening of the jaw crusher is made larger than a metal fitting part fixed by cement on the waste insulator. As a result, the metal fitting part passes through the jaw crusher without breakage. The metal fitting part is then removed from the coarsely crushed product and the resulting coarsely crushed product of the waste insulator is pulverized up to such a particle size as to enable compacting and sintering. This waste insulator pulverized product is compacted and fired to obtain a heat resistant ceramic product.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation or decomposition method allowing a gaseous organic substance to be efficiently in contact with a catalyst, using titanium oxide having a large surface area, which solves problems wherein titanium oxide formed by pelletizing fine powder is used as the catalyst and is formed spherical so as to prevent crushing of the pelletized catalyst, such molded bodies have superior strength, however have less surface area per unit weight and inferior efficiency, and therefore a large amount of them has to be packed resulting in high pressure loss in a catalyst layer. SOLUTION: In this oxidation or decomposition method, titanium oxide is heated to be activated, and organic matter and reactive inorganic matter are oxidized or decomposed by the heated catalytic function in a heated state. The catalyst is formed into a shape with a large surface area by press-hardening fine powder into irregular forms, is obtained by using titanium oxide with a bulk specific gravity of 1.2-3.2, a size of 1-60 mm and a specific area of 2.0 times or more of that of the spherical titanium oxide of the same specific gravity and weight.
