    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having the embroidering function which is equipped with a configuration for enabling both sewing and printing to a finished fabric without correcting to hold the finished fabric at a fabric holding frame, and for normally operating a printing device. SOLUTION: The printer with the embroidering function 1 comprises a sewing body 2 capable of sewing to the finished fabric W, the fabric holding frame 3 which holds the finished fabric W supplied for sewing, a frame driving device 4 which has a mounting part 4a attached detachably on the sewing body 2 and links to independently move the fabric holding frame 3 in two directions orthogonal in the horizontal direction, and the printing device 5 of an inkjet system capable of printing to the finished fabric W of the fabric holding frame 3 which is attached detachably to the mounting part 4a of the frame driving device 3 separated from the sewing body 2 and is moved by the frame driving device 4. SOLUTION: Before a thread inserting shaft 17 is rotated, a second thread guide member 36 has an upper support section 37 and a connecting wall 39 on the upper side and this side of a first thread guide member 44 respectively, and a guard wall section 39b covering at least this side of the thread guide section 44a of the first thread guide member 44 is provided on the connecting wall 39 of the second thread guide member 36. When the needle thread S is hooked on the second thread guide member 36, the needle thread S is guided along the guard wall section 39b and can be reliably hooked on the first thread guide member 44 without being released from the second thread guide member 36. Part of the needle thread S can be reliably held at the prescribed position near the needle hole 14a at thread insertion, and the reliability of the thread inserting device is increased.
