摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-piece solid golf ball having an excellent flying performance, the high shear and abrasion resistance of a cover and a soft hitting feeling and capable of suppressing the decline of repulsiveness even at a low temperature. SOLUTION: For the golf ball, a solid core is formed of a rubber composition including a rubber base material containing polybutadiene synthesized by using a rare earth element based catalyst, a small amount of organic peroxide, unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or its metal salt, an organosulfur compound and an inorganic filler. Then, for the golf ball, an intermediate layer composed of at least one layer is formed of a thermoplastic resin composition. The cover is formed of a material composed by combining the heated mixture of an olefin-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer and/or an olefin-unsaturated carboxylic acid-unsaturated carboxylic ester copolymer and/or the metal ion neutralized substance of the copolymer, polyurethane elastomer and an organic or inorganic basic compound. The hardness of the outside interlayer is lower than the hardness of the inside interlayer and the cover.

The cover 3 is formed of thermoplastic resin, especially the main component is ionomer resin with not lower than 40 and lower than 50 of Shore D hardness so that the Shore D hardness of the cover 3 is 15 or more higher than that of the middle layer 2. Thus the ball gives good feeling to a golfer in an approach shot and putting and has high spin performance in an iron shot and excellent carry in a full shot by driver.
