    • PURPOSE: To make it unnecessary to use a power key by providing a manual operating device for transmitting an electric code signal, and selectively operating a switch device. CONSTITUTION: A switch device which selectively interrupts a connecting device in response to a specified electric code signal is provided with a switch mechanism 34 electrically connected between a plug socket 26 and a wall plug socket 32. A solenoid switch 36 of the switch mechanism 34 is opened and closed according to the input of a required code using a keypad 38. Then, a decoder 42 decodes the electric signal, and transmits it to a correlator 46, and the correlator 46 compares an inputted code with a code stored in a memory bank 44. When these codes are the same, the solenoid switch 36 is operated for closing a power switch 50, and when the power switch 50 is closed, a power device 22 is electrically connected with the wall plug socket 32. Thus, it is not necessary to use a power key.

    • PURPOSE: To prevent the damaging of an optical fiber at the time of firing by disposing an approximately elastic plug between the front end of the projectile in a firing device and the mouth part of the firing device and fixing this plug axially along the inner flank of the tubular firing device during firing of the projectile. CONSTITUTION: The elastic plug 40 is disposed between the front end 14 of the projectile 10 in the firing device 16 and the mouth part 28 of the firing device 16 and is packed into the firing device 16 or fixed therein. The plug 40 fixes the length 32 of the fiber 22 in the axial line direction along the inner flank of the firing device 16 during the projectile 10 is fired. The plug 40 has particularly the plural holes or openings 42 in the axial line direction and these openings 42 release the gaseous pressure formed behind the plug during firing to prevent the release of the plug 40 from the firing device 16 early in timing. The optical fiber is fixed in the axial direction along the inner flank of the tubular firing device by this plug 40 during the firing of the projectile. As a result, the optical fiber guiding type projectile system which does not damage the optical fiber is obtd.

    • PURPOSE: To exactly detect relative motion of a particle by detecting the absorption of light beam when a charged particle between electrode plates moves from a neutral position to a light beam path and controlling an electrostatic field which recovers the particle according to the detected value. CONSTITUTION: A charged particle 20 is suspended in an electrostatic field 22 along a sensing axis 24. Power for the electrostatic field 22 is given by a power source 26 which provides an electric potential difference between an upper plate 28 and a lower plate 28' arranged in between parallel planes above and below the charged particle 20. The light beams emitted from light emitting diodes 32 and 34 which are parallel to the surfaces of the plates 28 and 28' go into each light detector 36 and 38. If the particle moves from a neutral position to a light beam path, it absorbs the light beams and so the outputs of detectors 36 and 38 vary. A position control system 40 monitors the outputs of the detectors 36 and 38, sends signals corresponding to the absorption of light through position feedback loops 42 and 44 to the power source 26 and controls the particle so as to return to the neutral position.

    • PURPOSE: To eliminate the loss of bullet shooting performance and hence securely prevent optical fibers from being damaged upon shooting of a bullet, by providing a derivation mechanism of specific optical fibers. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber 40 is wound around a bobbin 42, and an extension portion 44 extends from a tail portion 26 of a casing 22 to one end 46 of the same in order to achieve connection with a controller 50. A cannonball 20 includes a groove 52 that extends to a front head portion 24 from the tail portion 26 on an outer surface of a casing 22 for removably receiving a certain length portion 54. An accomodation portion 54 of the optical fiber 40 is fixed to the inside of the groove 52 with the aid of an adhesive tape 64 sticked perpendicularly to the groove 52. A tail plate 88 is designed such that it is broken owing to shooting force up on shooting or owing to a movement when the optical fiber 40 is separated from the casing 22. Communication means is provided in the easing 22, and is constructed with an encoder/decoder 92 connected with the other end 94 of tire optical fiber 40.

    • PURPOSE: To ensure a wide view area and a rapid optical reaction, by mounting an input end of fibers on a telescope to receive an optical signal, and transmitting an output end of the fibers to a camera. CONSTITUTION: A bundle 60 of combined optical fibers couples a telescope 40 and a camera 50. The bundle 60 of the optical fibers comprises a plurality of independent optical fibers 61, which fibers are mutually mildly coupled. Each optical fiber 61 extends along a substantially central axis 23 between a polished entrance surface 62 and a polished exit surface 63. The entrance surface 62 is mounted on a second end 44 of the telescope 40 with use of a bracket 64. The exit surface 63 is fixed to a camera/fiber interface 66. The interface 66 is mounted on an optical input element 52 of the camera 50. The fiber 61 has an axial length longer than a distance between a gimbal apparatus 30 and the camera 50. As a result, there are ensured a wide range view area and a rapid optical reaction.

    • PURPOSE: To carry out communication of coupled optical signals in a wide band range and transmission of high electric power by providing a cable apparatus with a glass fiber core, a coating layer of a plastic material, a conductor means buried in the coating layer, and a reinforcing means. CONSTITUTION: A cable 34 comprises a glass core 36 having a first reflectance and is surrounded with an outside glassy material layer 38 having slightly lower reflectance than that of the core 36 and formed unitedly with the core 36. The cable 34 further comprises a large number of buried electric conductive elements 24 and an outer coating layer 40 containing reinforcing fibers 44. In this case, the conductor 42 are extended approximately in parallel to the direction of the glass core 36 and wrapped or knitted spirally. For the coating layer 40, any material having necessary strength, proper properties such as protective property against the ambient environments, electrically protective property, etc. may be used and, for example, plastics, silicon acrylate type materials are used.

    • PURPOSE: To make it possible to protect an optical fiber against the damage by a laser in the case a laser beam falls onto the optical fiber for a long period of time by providing the fiber with a laser of an expansion material which insulates the optical fiber against the thermal damage by reacting at the heat input level of the incident laser beam. CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber 30 includes a central core 32 and a cover layer 34 enclosing the same. The core 32 and the cover layer 34 consist of glass type materials. The cover layer 34 is formed of a glass material having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core 32. In such a case, the optical fiber has the expansion material 38. The expansion material is a material having the nature that the material is flexible at the beginning and reacts to create a foamed or insulated layer when heated. These materials expand considerably in their volume to impart a direct thermal insulating layer for protecting the cover layer 34 and the core 32. As a result, the breakage or damage of the optical fiber by receiving the beam of the highenergy laser is prevented.
