    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple direction input device which can raise flexibility on a design including the on-timing of a photo interrupter serving as a detecting means.
      SOLUTION: The multiple direction input device includes an operation element 2 which can be operated in a first direction and a second direction which intersect perpendicularly mutually, a first slider 19 which has a long hole 19d prolonged in the second direction, and is guided movably in the first direction, a second slider 20 which has long holes 20d prolonged in the first direction and is guided movably in the second direction, a recess 22a in which optical shielding units 19c and 20c formed in the ends of the first and second sliders 19 and 20, and four photo interrupters 22 having a recess 22a in which optical shielding units 19c and 20c formed in the ends of the first and second sliders 19 and 20 move and which arrange a light emitting element 22b and a light receiving element 22c opposite to each other through this recess 22a. The first slider 19 and the second slider 20 are laminated and arranged so that the long holes 19d and 20d overlap superficially the first slider 19 and the second slider 20. The threading of the engagement protrusion 11 which projects from the lower part of the operation element 2 is carried out to these both long holes 19d and 20d.
