    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode material for electric discharge machining which enables a user to cope with quick delivery machining, namely, which has a small electrode wear-out rate and enables the user to execute the further high-speed machining, and its manufacturing method.
      SOLUTION: The Cu-W-based alloy electrode material for electric discharge machining is an alloy material which is made by sintering mixed powder comprising 25-60 mol% of copper (Cu) powder, 0.3-3.0 mol% of two or more powders selected from among Ca, Sr, and Ba in the second-group elements of the periodic table calculated by formula (X)WO
      4 (where, X in formula is the second-group element, hereafter formula I), and the balance being tungsten (W) powder or which is made by forming a porous sintered body composed of the above mixed powder excluding the copper (Cu) powder and then, infiltrating 25-60 mol% of copper (Cu) into the pores. The texture of the alloy material is composed such that the second-group elements form a dispersion phase in the form of a tungstate compound of formula I.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tantalum carbide powder and solid solution of tantalum carbide-niobium as raw material for composite material, each of which is composed of fine and uniform particles uniformly dispersed, also stoichiometrically sufficiently bonded with carbon and has a low oxygen content, and to provide their production methods.
