摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silica-based sols with high stability and SiOcontents as well as improved drainage and yield performance in papermaking; and to provide a papermaking process using the silica-based sols.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a sol containing silica-based particles having an axial ratio of at least 10 and S-value up to 25. The invention further relates to a sol containing the silica-based particles having the axial ratio of at least about 11. The invention further relates to a sol containing the silica-based particles having the axial ratio of at least 100. The invention further relates to a sol having the axial ratio of 11 to 35. The invention further relates to a sol containing silica-based particles surface-treated with aluminum. Moreover, the invention relates to a process for producing paper, which comprises a step of: adding one or more filtrated water and a yield-improving agent, which contain a sol containing the silica-based particles, to an aqueous suspension comprising cellulosic fibers, and then dewatering the obtained suspension to provide a sheet or web of paper.
