      SOLUTION: The collection method contains a step to position a suction device 1 having an essentially funnel-shaped tip end on the bottom of a lake or river supposed to be a spawning site of the fish and sucking the spawn or fry together with sand and water to collect the spawn or fry from water and a step to discharge the sucked spawn or fry together with sand and water on a separator 5 provided with a separation surface 4 having an opening smaller than the diameter of the spawn or the dimension of the fry to drop the sand and water through the opening and recover the spawn or fry left on the separation surface. Preferably, the separation surface has a plurality of slit openings 7 having a width smaller than the diameter of the spawn or the dimension of the fry to be collected and aligned parallel to each other and the surface is inclined in the direction of the slit opening. In this case, only the spawn or the fry is slid down on the separation surface to facilitate the separation/recovery procedures.
