    • PURPOSE:To save the fuel cost by a method wherein a supercharger is driven when the operation of an engine is in its low and medium speed rotation zones and a passage bypassing the supercharge is closed so that the operation of the supercharger is limited accurately to the low and medium speed rotation zones of the engine. CONSTITUTION:A supercharger 14 is provided in an air intake passage 13 between an air cleaner 10 and a carburettor 11 and the driving shaft 19 of the supercharger 14 is removably connected to a pulley 17 rotated by the output shaft 15 of the engine through an electromagnetic clutch 18. Further, a bypass air intake passage 22 bypassing the supercharger 14 is provided in the air intake passage 13 and a constantly opened control valve 21 is interposed in the air intake passage 22. The electromagnetic clutch 18 and the control valve 21 are controlled by a control circuit 30. In other words, when the engine r.p.m. detected from the output of an engine r.p.m. sensor 31 is in the low or medium speed rotation zone of the engine, the electromagnetic clutch 18 is held in its connected condition and the control valve 21 is closed to thereby increase the supercharging pressure of the supercharger.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent supercharge operation in the decelerating condition of an automobile so as to improve fuel consumption, by providing a throttle opening sensor and stopping the supercharge operation when the throttle opening is below a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A supercharger 14 is driven by an engine output through a solenoid clutch 18, and supercharging action is stopped when a solenoid 20 is not excited. A normally-opened valve 21, provided in an intake passage 22 bypassing the supercharger 14, is controlled in the closing direction while the supercharger 14 is operated, causing a supercharge pressure to increase, and if the supercharger 14 is not operated, engine inake air is fed to an engine 12 from the valve 21. Feeding a control signal by a control circuit 30 to solenoids 20, 23 on the basis of input signals from an engine speed sensor 31 and a throttle opening sensor 50, operation of the supercharger is prevented under the decelerating condition so that durability of the supercharger and fuel consumption can be improved.

CONSTITUTION:A supercharger 14 is interposed in an air intake passage 13 between an air cleaner 10 and a carburettor 11 and the driving shaft 19 of the supercharger 14 is removably connected to a pulley 17 which is rotated by the output shaft 15 of the engine through an electromagnetic clutch 18. Further, the air intake passage 22 by-passing the supercharger 14 is provided in the air intake passage 13 and a constantly opened control valve 21 is interposed in the air intake passage 22. The electromagnetic clutch 18 and the control valve 21 are controlled by a control circuit 30. In other words, when the engine r.p.m. detected by a tachometer 32 is below a predetermined value and the vehicle speed is above a predetermined value, the electromagnetic clutch 18 is held in its connected condition and the control valve 21 is closed to thereby increase the supercharging pressure of the supercharger.
