CONSTITUTION:Comparison is made between the depth alpha of depression of an accelerator pedal and the depth beta of depression of the accelerator pedal required for fully opening a throttle valve. When the depth alpha of depression is substantially equal to or smaller than the reference depth beta of depression, the opening of the throttle valve 5 is controlled through depression of the accelerator pedal 8. In this state, a control valve 11 is opened fully by applying a signal to an actuator 10. On the other hand, when the depth alpha of depression of the accelerator pedal becomes greater than the reference depth beta of depression, the throttle valve 5 is fully opened. In this state, the opening of the control valve 11 is controlled by applying a signal to the actuator 10.

    • PURPOSE:To make improvements in an accelerating characteristic in time of starting, by constituting a friction type stepless transmission unit with a friction engaging device which is disposed behind the transmission unit and an output shaft and intermits the power transfer between the transmission unit and the output shaft. CONSTITUTION:A stepless transmission unit 2 is of belt gearing in type, and an input shaft 13 and an output shaft 14 are set up in parallel with each other, while pulleys 16 and 17 capable of changing each width are installed on each shaft, and a belt 8 being almost trapezoidal form in its section is rolled round on each of these pulleys 16 and 17. When the pulleys 16 at the input side is large in breadth and the pulley 17 at the output side is narrow, a high transmission ratio is obtainable but when the input side pulley 16 is wide and the output side pulley 17 is narrow, a low transmission ratio is obtainable the other way. At the output shaft 14 of the transmission unit 12, a friction engaging device 15 consisting of planetary gears selectively attaching or detaching to or from the constituent elements by both brake and clutch devices is coupled there. With this device 15, power transfer in three ways of normal, reverse and cutoff can be intermitted.

Then, it is engaged with a ring gear R provided on a periphery of a flywheel F. A rotation of the starter motor 1 is transmitted to one side, the gear 6 and the rotating shaft 5 to drive the supercharger 4. Nearly at the same time, before, or after, it is transmitted to the output shaft of the engine via another ring gear R and the flywheel F.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the perfromance of an engine, by enabling to control supercharging operation to meet the driver's requirement for acceleration by detecting the rate of change of the accelerator opening with time, and effecting or stopping supercharging operation according to the depression speed and the releasing speed of an accelerator pedal. CONSTITUTION:A control valve 6 is disposed in a by-pass passage 5' by-passing a compressor of a supercharger which is provided in an intake passage, and the control valve 6 is controlled by a control circuit. This control circuit includes comparators 17, 18 for comparing the depression angle of an accelerator pedal 10, i.e., the rate of change with time obtained by differentiating the accelerator opening respectively with reference values V1, V2 and a processing circuit 25 to which outputs of the comparators 17, 18 are furnished. The processing circuit 25 produces a supercharge effecting signal when the rate of change of the accelerator opening with time, i.e., the depression speed of the accelerator pedal is greater than the reference value V1 and produces a supercharge stopping signal when the releasing speed of the accelerator pedal is greater than the reference value V2.

When the rate of stepping on the accelerator pedal has exceeded the reference value V1, a supercharging signal is issued, while when the releasing rate of the accelerator pedal has exceeded the reference value V2 or the increase rate of the rotatioal frequency of the engine has exceeded the reference value V3, a supercharging stop signal is issued.

    • PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of a motive power transmission belt, by making numerous projections of a material of higher thermal conductivity than that for the belt, on the belt except for its sides to be put in pressure contact with a pulley, to improve the heat radiating property of the belt to suppress its temperature rise. CONSTITUTION:A motive power transmission belt 1 is wound in the V-groove of a pulley, for example. A plurality of anti-tension elements 3 are provided in the body 2 of the belt 1 so that the anti-tension elements extend in the direction of the width of the belt. The oblique sides 21, 22 of the belt 1 are put in pressure contact with the pulley at both the sides of its groove. The belt 1 is coated with canvas layers 25, 26 at the top 23 and bottom 24. Numerous projections 4 made of a material of higher thermal conductivity than that for the body 2 of the belt 1 are provided on the canvas layers 25, 26 to increase the surface area of the belt except for the part to be put in pressure contact with the pulley. The radiation of heat to the atmosphere is thus effectively caused to suppress the rise in the temperature of the belt 1 to lengthen its life.
