    • PURPOSE:To improve strength by manufacturing a member using conductor composed of oxide superconductor and insulator whose major ingredient is compound expressed by the composition formula of Bi2Al4O9 or PbAl2O4. CONSTITUTION:Bi2O3 whose average particle diameter is approximately 2mum and Al2O3 whose average particle diameter is approximately 3mum are mixed and calcinated so as to manufacture calcinated material which contains Bi2Al4O9 crystal. The material is powdered to allow the average particle diameter to be approximately 3mum, is mixed with acrylic binder and trichloroethylene and a 100mum thick film is formed by doctor blade method. Then, the thick film is cut into a rectangle plate 1 and is placed on 50mum silver foil 3 of the same size. Another 50mum silver foil 3 of the same size is placed on the 100mum thick film and 50mum thick Bi2Sr2Cu2OX (X is an oxygen quantity) thick film 2 formed of superconductor calcinated powder is placed on it. The laminate is heat-treated in an electric furnace by a pattern suitable for oxide superconductor. Thus, a superconducting member which allows excellent strength and superconductor characteristics is manufactured.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alkali-free glass free from the defect in void and the defect in undissolved matter in the raw material, and suitable to substrate glass for an LCD, and to provide a method for producing the same.
      SOLUTION: The alkali-free glass does not substantially contain alkali metal oxide, and has a mother composition of SiO
      2 , Al
      2 O
      3 , B
      2 O
      3 , MgO, CaO, SrO and BaO. The temperature at which its viscosity reaches 10
      2 dPa s is ≤1,600°C, and the glass contains sulfur of 0.001 to 0.1% expressed in terms of SO
      3 by mass% to the total 100% of the mother composition. In the method for producing the glass, preparation is performed in such a manner that the content of sulfate is controlled to 0.01 to 5% expressed in terms of SO
      3 to the glass raw material having the mother composition, and dissolution is performed.
