    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a simultaneous analytical method in which the composition of a surface active agent is qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed with good accuracy without executing a pretreatment by combining a high-performance liquid chromatograph with an evaporation light scattering detector, and adopting a reversed-phase gradient elution method in which a volatile salt in a quantity sufficient to hold an ionic surface-active agent is contained in a solution. SOLUTION: A gradient elution method by a mixed solvent of two or more kinds of water/organic solvents which contain a filler for reversed-phase chromatography as a column filler and which contain a volatile salt as an elute is used. The eluate which is eluted from a column is changed into a mist by a nebulizer while it is mixed with a compressed gas, the mist is humidified, a volatile compound is removed, and a nonvolatile compound is detected by using an evaporation light scattering detector which can detect it. The identification of a peak on an obtained chromatogram is performed in such a way that the holding time indicated by the peak is compared with the holding time indicated by a single-chain-length standard compound available on the market or with a synthetic compound.
