    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching method for a peeling thickness by which a good thin standard size single veneer plate can always be formed in a single veneer plate machining-cutting processing procedure. SOLUTION: Out of two kinds of thick and thin single veneer plates which are machined from a material wood by a veneer lathe, the thin single veneer plate 6B is cut by a standard size for each specified length h in order by using a standard size cutting apparatus which is directly connected with the veneer lathe. When the peeling thickness is continuously switched from a thick peeling to a thin peeling in the single veneer plate machining-cutting processing procedure in which the thin standard size single veneer plates 6b are formed in order, the total length Wx of the thin single veneer plate 6B which can be machined when each material wood is thinly peeled to a regulated peeling core diameter after the peeling thickness has been switched is predictably calculated. At the same time, a specified point P is calculated. In this case, at the point P, a distance L from a boundary position k between a defective single veneer plate 6c accompanying the thin single veneer plate 6B and another thin single veneer plate 6B is within the range of the predictably calculated total length Wx, and also, becomes a length for which a waste cut length g being regulated in advance is added to a length of the integral multiple of the standard size length h of the thin standard size single veneer plate 6b.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationalize the process steps and enhance the production yield of a veneer by offering a method, of switching the stripping thickness of the veneer, which enables inhibiting of the production of an end length thin veneer, in the process of cutting/shearing the veneer. SOLUTION: With regard to the band-like thin veneer 6B of good quality among the other two kinds of thick and thin veneers obtained by cutting a log, using a veneer lathe, the log is successively cut in standard lengths per specified length "h" with the help of a standard length cutter directly connected with the veneer lathe. Further, in the veneer cutting/shearing process for successively forming a thin standard length veneer 6b, the overall length Wx of the thin veneer 6B which can be previously cut, is estimated by calculation using any appropriate means of estimating the overall length of the thin veneer. At the same time, the appropriate overall length (h×n≤Wx) which can contribute to making the acquirable number of the pieces of the thin standard length veneer 6b maximum, is calculated within the range of the calculated overall length Wx. In addition, the timely setting of continuous switching of the stripping thickness from thick stripping to thin stripping or/and the timely setting of continuous switching of the stripping thickness from thin stripping to thick stripping, is appropriately adjusted. Thus it is possible to tune up the length L of the thin veneer 6B which is actually cut to the appropriate overall length earlier calculated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
