摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device that transports paper (transfer material), without making an unnecessary photoreceptor (image carrier) rotate, even in a transfer device which does not have transport belt (transporting member) and that attains longer lifetime for the image carrier, suppression of deterioration in toner with the passage of time, and reduction in transfer (fogging) of the toner to a non-printing part of a transfer material. SOLUTION: A transfer member (101) is movable from the position in which this transfer member is in contact with the image carrier (108), to a position in which it is separated from the image carrier and is brought into contact with the transport member (109). Alternatively, the image carrier is movable from a position where this image carrier is in contact with the transfer member to the position in which it is separated from the transfer member, and the transport member is movable from the position in which the transport member is separated from the transfer member and the image carrier to the position in which the transport member is in contact with the transfer member.
