When receiving an input color signal Pi, the reference color signal calculation section 21 refers to the gamut data for input device 25, calculates a maximum saturation color of the hue in matching with the hue of the input color signal Pi as a reference color signal T, the corresponding color decision section 22 refers to the gamut data for output device 26 to calculate a corresponding color signal M providing a minimum color difference within a color reproduction range of an output device corresponding to the reference color signal T. The output hue decision section 23 decides a hue h' of an output signal color signal Po based on the corresponding color signal M and the mapping processing section 24 calculates components of the lightness and the saturation and provides an output of the result as the output color signal Po.
