摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that has a contact heat member and a suction mechanism for causing a recording medium to be sucked to the contact heat member, suppresses blocking of the air passage of the suction mechanism without blowing air from a suction part, and maintains close contact between the recording medium and the contact heat member; and to provide an image forming apparatus using the fixing device. SOLUTION: The fixing device 2 includes: a preheat plate 25 that heats continuous recording paper 4 in contact with this paper 4; and the suction mechanism 40 that drives a suction blower 34 to cause the suction part 27 to produce negative pressure, thereby drawing the continuous recording paper 4 to the suction part 27, so that the continuous recording paper 4 is sucked to the preheat plate 25. The fixing device fixes a toner image to the continuous recording paper 4 by heating the continuous recording paper 4 holding the unfixed toner image on its surface. The suction mechanism 40 has an intermediate chamber 29, serving as a foreign matter separating means, for separating foreign matter from air in the air passage through which air passes from the suction part 27 to a suction blower 34.
